I don't know why those leaders can't fight, though. Ivan the Terrible was captured and disappeared because I thought he could fight.

In Age of Empires the heroes or leaders could fight but you'd lose if they got killed

No thats whats good. Whats really fun is killing an enemy's hero then placing men around him until he recovers.

How long does it take to complete a mission or whatever?

I don't think there are "missions". But, each city can build something. A unit, or a wonder. The wonders add up culture score, which will expand your territory after a while. It takes several turns to learn new sciences and make units and wonders. A turn is going through each one of your units however many times they can go.
Now there is a science fund. If you increase it, you want to make sure that your income is still greater than your outcome. Otherwise, your treasury will eventually deplete.

Its in turns. I dont have the patience for those type of games. Im too agressive and impatient to wait my turn to start killing something.

Heh. I just move my troops around a city or two of the enemy, and just keep pushing them into the cities. One dies, the next one comes in. If they keep hurting the enemy, eventually I will win. I'm about to take over Babylon. It's more advanced than me and it's Marine defenses have killed most of my Cossacks, but my Marines and Infantry are about to arrive. My planes do bombing runs on Ur. Babylon is out of their range, but barely. If I take over Ur, BAbylon will be in range. AND, I'm learning nuclear fission. NUKES HERE I COME!!!!

I once destroyed an Inca empire by dropping nukes on almost ever city and every bit of land I could find that had troops. Then I sent a crap load of guys with heavy machineguns.

I assume that the Inca weren't very advanced when you did that.
