Oh man! This game is totally awesome! It's crazy. It's so good, it has about 4 ways you can win:
1) Militarily--be the last civilization standing 2) Peacfully--negotiate the end of civilizations through diplomacy 3) UN Sectretary General--build the UN and become the Sectretary General 4) Space Race--win the space race first
My dad and I have been playing this game a lot lately. We've pretty much discovered the secret on how to win. There are sciences you must discover. Each from each time period. The time periods are:
1) Ancient Times 2) Middle Ages 3) Industrial Ages 4) Modern Age
It's halarious though. We're not cheating either. But, I'm watching my dad play right now, and he's WAY over halfway though the Modern Age, and the year on his game currently is 1375 AD. He already has planes and nukes and is getting computers really soon.

I really want rise of nations: rise of legends. Its so cool the way it works you can be one of three civilizations. The Vinci, who are humans with really advanced technology. The Alin, who are like magical creatures, and the Cuotl, who are demi-gods. I want to be the Cuotl because they looked really cool. The graphics for this game are amazing.

Well, Civilization lets you be real civilizations, like Age of Empires. In Civilization 3, you can be:
-British -French -American -Ancient Egyptian -Greek -Roman -Russian -Persian -Babylonian -Japanese -Chinese -Zulu -German -Aztec -Iroquis
And that's all I can remember.
On my current game, I've had two semi-successful wars with Babylon. I've also had two VERY successful wars with Ancient Egypt. I'm Russia (duh). The funny thing is, Babylon demanded that I pay them for no reason, and I said "screw you", and they declared war on me.
Three seconds later, Babylon got Japan to declare war on me. So it's:
Russia vs. Babylon and Japan
BUT, I had mutual protection pacts with Ancient Egypt and Rome, so they declared war on Babylon. Then I persuaded them to join with me against Japan. So, then it's:
Russia, Rome, and Ancient Egypt vs. Babylon and Japan
Then, I persuaded Greece, Germany, and China to join me against Babylon and Japan so finally it's:
Russia, Ancient Egypt, Rome, China, Germany, and Greece vs. Babylon and Japan
That's all 8 civilizations in my current game. That's like WW2. Babylon is the most advance nation right now, and I'm taking them down on ALL fronts.
OK. There are 2 continents in my game. One has Germany, China, and Japan. The other has Russia, Greece, Egypt, Rome, and Babylon. So, currently China and Germany are focusing on destroying Japan, then they come to my continent, and Egypt, Rome, Greece, and I are focusing on destroying Babylon.
Both Babylon and Japan have asked for Peace Treaties, but I rejected them because they declared war on me for no reason. And whenever one of my allies signs a peace treaty with my enemies, I pay them to go back to war and they do it.
The cool part about my war with Babylon right now though, is that Babylon is in the MIDDLE of our continent. It is surrounded by Russia, Rome, and Greece. It has three fronts to fight, which thins out it's military. My troops are right outside of Babylon, which has heave defenses and took out half of my military. But, in a couple of turns, I'll have tanks and run over Babylon. I'm also doing bombing raids over Ur. Egypt has to go through my territory to get to Babylon, but I don't care.

There's more civilizations than that, because there are 18. I didn't list 18.
BUT, I just remembered a 16th civilization.

They are somewhat hard. And they do get pretty dang annoying when you go to war with another country and only YOUR men die (it happens every now and then).
